Equal Opportunity Cell

A College Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) is a mandated body, often established under UGC guidelines, aimed at ensuring equity, fostering inclusivity, and preventing discrimination against students and staff based on caste, gender, disability, or social background.

It promotes diversity, supports marginalized groups (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) through counseling, scholarships, and grievance redressal, and conducts workshops to create a harmonious, non-discriminatory environment.

Key aspects of an EOC include:

• Objectives: To eliminate discrimination, foster inclusivity, and protect the rights of socially and educationally disadvantaged groups.
• Functions: Monitoring implementation of government policies, facilitating access to scholarships/financial aid, and organizing sensitization programs.
• Support: Providing special, need-based support to students with disabilities and marginalized communities.
• Redressal: Addressing grievances of staff and students related to discrimination or harassment.
